Slim is deputized to protect a suspected killer, target of a murder attempt while awaiting trial. Lyle Bettger is never better than when he makes you hate him and he does it here. He plays a lawyer whose client is both a suspected murderer and also marked for murder. Bettger's attempt to free him consists of smuggling a gun to him. This begins a sequence of fast shooting action and tragic consequences.

Adam West plays one of the bad guys in this episode. As an outlaw he gets his old pal Jess Harper involved in a scheme that almost costs Jess his life. Jess thinks his old pal is going to rob a train and reports it to the sheriff, who rewards him by locking him up. He then rides off with a posse of all available men. This leaves the gang alone in a nearly empty town, with a plan for emptying the bank.
