Laverne & Shirley

Laverne & Shirley

Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney are lifelong friends who live in a cramped basement apartment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They are employed as bottle cappers for Shotz Brewery, along with high school acquaintances Lenny and Squiggly, two over sexed, greasy losers who happen to live upstairs in the same building as the girls. Laverne's father owns and operates the Pizza Bowl, a spot frequented by the gang and their friends. Their landlady is Mrs. Edna Babbish, a widow who later dates Laverne's father, Frank. The girls are always on the lookout for a Friday night date and a possible husband, but so far have had no luck. Shirley is in love with Carmine Ragoosa, a dancer and singer who is struggling to get into show business, but he is known to date a woman who can get him a job on the stage.

Later in the series Laverne's father got married to Mrs. Babbish and moved to California, and the girls quit their jobs and followed them to the sunshine state. They temporarily go to work as waitresses in Mr. DeFazio's new restaurant while searching for a real job. The final year of the series was minus Shirley, who got married and moved away. This pretty much spelled the end of the show.
