Aunt Martha, played by Madge Kennedy (1)
Aunt Martha is June's aunt and appears in five episodes. She is a very proper, elderly maiden lady who lives nearby in Riverside. June spent summers with Aunt Martha as a girl and credits her with being a second mother. The boys call her their "Umbrella Aunt" because she once ave them umbrellas for their birthdays. In one episode, she buys Beaver a short pants suit and, when he wears it to school at her insistence, he becomes the butt of ridicule. In another episode, she wants Beaver to attend a fancy prep school but Beaver declines. In another episode, she drops in unexpectedly with a friend and forces the boys to cancel their plans to attend a carnival. Beaver was named Theodore after her brother and receives his heirloom ring. |
