Episode Quotes
Regine: Honey, if you really want to rehearse being a waitress, you could serve my guests.
Synclaire: Usually when you use me like this, I go along because I'm nice. But today, it might help my acting career. So I'm using you!

(Regine answers door.)
Russell: Greetings, chesty spitfire. Hey Synclaire. (to Max) Hello, angry woman who never seems to leave.

Regine: Hey. How did Russell's deposition go?
Khadijah: He's still down there trying to convince them he can't speak English.

(Synclaire comes downstairs in glamorous gown.)
Regine: You look beautiful. You and Obie celebrating again over at Ikea's cafeteria?

Overton: You look stunning, my anniversary angel.
Synclaire: So do you, my commemorative catch.

Max: I've already had my first press conference this afternoon.
Regine: Oh my God, Max. What did you wear?
Max: This.
Regine: God. The blouse says you're in favor of acid rain, the skirt says more guns in schools, and the shoes say you're blind.

Kyle: (to Overton and Synclaire) You two kids have a lovely evening, okay? And the next bottle is on me. (Snaps fingers at waiter.) Domestic.

Max: Hey Regine, I'm on my way to the bathroom. What color pants should I wear?

Max: Regine, you call me like that again, and your hair had better be on fire. In fact, let's try a dry run right now.

Max: Remember to vote for Maxine Shaw, the candidate with chutzpah. I'm going for broad-based appeal.

Russell: But the music department is my responsibility, Regine.
Regine: Just Regine? No mention of my chest and sullen attitude?

Regine: (about Max) You'll have to excuse her. She's a homeless person to whom I've given a hot meal.

Cultural References
Synclaire: That's De Niro's line!

Synclaire is hired by famed actor Robert De Niro to appear in his latest film after he spots her buying a hot dog.

Khadijah: For the first time in my life, I'm praying I hear Barry Manilow.

Russell has accused an alternative rock group of stealing its song from the 1974 Barry Manilow hit "Mandy."

Overton: (to Synclaire, about Kyle) He just got done watching that new Boyz II Men video. He's a little on the emotional side.

Overton covers Kyle getting choked up about the pending proposal with a reference to the popular 1990s R&B group which had its greatest success with ballads.

Regine: (to Synclaire) You and Obie celebrating again over at Ikea's cafeteria?

A reference to the chain of stores specializing in Scandinavian furniture and accessories.

Kyle: (to Regine) You're hosting the meeting tonight for that group you joined, right? What is it, Peabo?

A reference to R&B singer Peabo Bryson.

Episode References
Max: He told me he was 19!

When Max's personal life is exposed in the campaign, a reference is made to the college freshman she dated in "The Hand That Robs the Cradle," although it is now claimed that he was only 17.

Max: (on TV) Ooh, Officer Goodbody! Frisk me! Frisk me!

The TV news report plays the video of Max dancing with a stripper at a bachelorette party that she tried to retrieve from Kyle's apartment in the episode "Space Invaders."

News Anchor: ...they were thrown out of a Brian McKnight concert.

The report also shows the security photos taken of Kyle and Max after they were kicked out of a Brian McKnight concert in "Wake Up to the Break-Up."
