Living Single

Show Tidbits
In the opening credits, Queen Latifah and Kim Coles alternate as the first person listed. This is based on production order, so if one is listed first for consecutive episodes, it means that the episode is airing out of production order.

The original title of the series was My Girls.

Prior to Living Single, series creator Yvette Lee Bowser served as a writer and producer on A Different World. Many cast members from that show would go on to make guest appearances on Living Single. During the first season, Cree Summer (Freddie Brooks on Different World) appeared in the episode "Love Thy Neighbor," and Charnele Brown (Kimberly Reese) was in "Friends Like These" just a few episodes later. Season 2 saw appearances from Kadeem Hardison (Dwayne Wayne) in "Who's Scooping Who?" and Lou Myers (Vernon Gaines) in "To Grandmother's House We Go." Jasmine Guy (Whitley Gilbert-Wayne) guest-starred in season 3's "Shrink to Fit," as did Darryl M. Bell (Ron Johnson) in "Dear John" and Karen Malina White (Charmaine Brown) in "Woman to Woman." Bumper Robinson, who had a major recurring role as Dorian Heywood on the final season of A Different World, also had a recurring role during the third and fourth seasons of Living Single, making eight appearances as Ivan Ennis.

Kim Fields and John Henton dated during the show's first season.

Living Single received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Comedy Series twice, in 1996 and 1998. It was also nominated in 1997.

Erika Alexander won two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy, in 1996 and 1998. She was also nominated in 1997. Queen Latifah and Kim Coles were each nominated three consecutive years, from 1996 to 1998; and Kim Fields was nominated in 1996. T.C. Carson was nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy in 1997 and '98, and John Henton was nominated in 1996. Eartha Kitt was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy in 1996 for her guest appearance in the episode "He Works Hard for the Money."
