Love, American Style

Love, American Style

In this anthology comedy series, each hour-long episode features a line-up of different celebrity guest stars appearing in short stories or vignettes about love and romance. Seen as a forerunner of TV anthology styled shows, Love, American Style was all about dating, relating and mating. This was still the early 70's however, so all of this hank-panky was as prim and proper as an elderly maiden aunt.
Consisting of unrelated stories with differing themes on romance, usually in a comedic vein, the show was often the home of a string of B-list actors playing different characters in many episodes. Each episode was essentially of a series of one act plays, each one with the word “Love” in the title.
Once described as the place "where failed sitcom pilots went to die," producer Aaron Spelling often culled the funniest segments of a pilot to be recreated as one of the stories on the show.
