Loving premiered on June 26, 1983 on the ABC network in the United States. The series was created by Agnes Dixon and Doug Marland.
The show debuted on prime time with a two hour special. The next day the series started in a regular daytime slot. Much of the action centered around the Alden family in the fictional town of Corinth.
Due to low ratings the serial was revamped in 1995 with many of the central characters killed off. The remaining characters moved to the Soho area of New York and the series was renamed The City.
