This is the first of the "Dear Dad" series of episodes in which Hawkeye writes a letter to his dad. He will do the same in "Dear Dad, Again" and in "Dear Dad...Three". | While writing the letter to his father, Hawkeye indicates that he is from Vermont. This is repeated in a later season 1 episode, 'Ceasefire'. Subsequently, his backstory is that he is from Crabapple Cove, Maine. |
