MacGyver's creation of a bamboo ultra-lite was "busted" in the "MacGyver Myths" episode of Mythbusters. The guys demonstrated it was incapable of flying.

MacGyver: Well, why would this Von Leer be so interested in... whatever it is you're looking for?
Zoe Ryan: It's kind of complicated.
MacGyver: Zoe, everything about you is complicated. Try me.
