Tip Ellis, a private detective is murdered after learning more about a blackmailer than his employer wanted him to know. The private eye was a friend of Mannix's and had sent a letter to the detective shortly before his murder. Peggy is put by a doctor under drugs, so that she reveals the combination of the safe in which the letter lies.
