Private Heaven states in the dialogue that he hails from Henderson, North Carolina. The script writer must have been using a map because there really is such a town.

Bart: Mostly, you don't catch me hanging around Army posts. I don't have a hankering for the military life. But this fort was different. There was always a big poker game going on in the Sutler's store. Trappers in from the wilds would take a hand and some of those cavalry boys in blue were pretty sharp card players. You know the kind: when payday came around they'd wind up with most of the money in the barracks. So, whenever I was in the neighborhood, I'd drop in and try to even things up a little.

O'Dell: My old pappy always used to say, "Once you get the call, don't backslide."
Bart: The what?
O'Dell: My pappy.
Bart: That's what I thought you said.

Bart: The poor are always tryin' to get the rich and they usually do.

Captain Berger: Captain Berger, Officer of the Day.
Bart: Nice to meet you, Captain. Pull up a chair. There's still room for one more.

Bart: This is an enlistment paper!
Col. Percy: Well, read the small print, Bart, it's a short term - only 180 days.
Bart: Me, in the Army!?! In the cavalry? Why you must be outta your mind, Sam. Why I don't know the first thing about bein' a soldier and I sure don't wanna learn.
Col. Percy: There's always the stockade.

Benedict: You like money, don't you?
Bart: Well, who doesn't?

O'Dell: You got a true gambler's heart, Maverick.
Bart: Well, I have to in order to play against you, O'Dell.
O'Dell: That's not what I mean. Berger might come in, slap another six months on your hitch.
Bart: The way I been performin', it'll be just a matter a days before they offer me money to leave.

Benedict: Maverick, it's been said you love money more than anything else.
Bart: It's been said right.

Bart: Lotta things about me you don't know, Rogers.

Benedict: (about Heaven) Favor, what favor?
Bart: He doesn't know it yet but I'm gonna pay him to do my extra detail.

Jed: You have anymore questions?
Bart: No, just as long as I get paid.

Bart: Well, good evening.
Captain Berger: 'Ten-tion!
Bart: Don't be ridiculous.

Acando: What has happened to Maverick?
Catherine: Why do you ask?
Acando: He was the only one of the three that had wisdom.
Catherine: And I thought you were a good judge of people. He was working for my husband.
Acando: Then he was working for peace.
Catherine: The court martial board has convicted him of treason. He hangs tomorrow morning.
Acando: You could save him, with a word!
Catherine: I will not save him.
Acando: I wonder which one of us is the savage?

Bart states to Colonel Percy when he's being "recruited" into the Army that he doesn't know the first thing about being a soldier. The story editor must have been asleep at the wheel here because it's stated in several previous episodes that he and Bret served in the Army during and immediately after the Civil War.
