Episode Notes

We learn in this episode that Beau Maverick isn't really English; he'd just been sent there to live for many years by Pappy Maverick because he's brought disgrace to the family name by winning a medal for bravery during the Civil War.

Episode Quotes

Muldoon: Do you play poker?
Bart: My Declaration of Independence.

Bart: (to Freddie) The only thing they forgot when they made you was a fuse.

Bart: Impersonate you? I don't even have an accent.
Freddie: Then keep your mouth shut.

Beau: (about Freddie) Is that the little weasel?
Bart: Complete with chicken coop.

Freddie: $4,000! That's robbery!
Bart: That's enterprise.

Beau: (to Herbert) We all look different through the bottom of a whiskey bottle.

Beau: (to Molly) Sentimentality, my dear, never compounded interest.

Marquis: Maverick, I'm beginning to believe they slapped the wrong end when you were born.

Marquis: (about the Bar-H Ranch) I say, shabby place. Rather run down.

McGee: Texans are all named after rivers and forts.

Bart: What did I do?
Beau: I couldn't explain in seven centuries.

Analysis

Roger Moore made his debut as a regular on the series as Beau Maverick and for the most part the episode falls flat even though Moore tries his best with mediocre material. Such would be the way with most of his appearances.
