Kathleen Crowley wears a brunette wig in this episode instead of her usual blonde locks.
 
The character of Clement Samuel is based on Samuel Clemens, the real name of famed writer Mark Twain. Clemens actually lived in Virginia City for a time and worked for the newspaper there.
