Mel Gibson played Bret Maverick in the 1994 theatrical film. The character was played by James Garner on the TV series. Garner himself appeared in the movie as another character. |

Cali, if you go to AOL Video, they have 55 episodes of the series on-line. You can watch an episode or two there and maybe get a feel for what the series was like. |
