Max Headroom

The core of the Max Headroom legacy consists of a one-hour (57 minute) British telefilm, intended to establish Max's backstory for his appearances as a music-channel announcer, and fourteen one-hour (48 minute) episodes produced for American television. Although the show formally ran two seasons - as a late season replacement in spring 1987 and a returning show in the fall - it was really two quarter-seasons of six and five episodes, with three leftover episodes run much later. Two of the final three episodes were not shown until the end of the 1987/88 season (apparently as filler during the TV writer's strike), and the last episode was not shown in the US until nearly a decade later. The series was renewed for 13 episodes in the second season, and sources have told me that there were full treatments, if not developing or developed scripts, for all episodes. That means that at least five unproduced scripts exist, as well as others that were discarded at some point in the development process. Some details are known; the remainder will be unearthed in time.
