Archie MacDonald is tricked into returning to his native Scotland from London by his parents. He discovers he is now Laird of the family estate,Glenbogle. Drama and wackiness ensue as he tries to save the estate and keep it running along with the people who reside and work there.

All good things must come to an end and Monarch of the Glen is no exception. The bank has withdrawn it's loan and Paul must put Glenbogle up for sale. He has to start telling the others to look for a new home. Paul must also come to terms with the upcoming wedding of Malcolm and Iona. Molly finally realizes that she has feelings for Golly. Kilwillie still has feelings for her. Hector's memorial service is upon them. Donald,upset over the upcoming sale, puts himself into a retirement home. Jess misses Duncan. Will things turn out right for everyone?
