Archie is tricked into returning to his boyhhod home in the Highlands of Scotland by his parents. He discovers that he is now Laird of the family home,Glenbogle.
Glenbogle is bogged down in debt and a banker comes to foreclose on the estate. Archie must think of a way to save Glenbogle.
Archie's girlfriend,Justine,come to visit from London. She can't help but notice the sparks between Archie and the local schoolteacher,Katrina.
Does the local schoolteacher,Katrina, have a link to the MacDonald family? A diary that has been found after many years reveals some surprises.
Archie's sister,Lizzie,returns home with her new-age friends.
The Highland's annual boat race is coming up and Archie competes against Laird Kilwillie.
Archie returns back to London with Lexie to see Justine. He organizes a special "Highland Night" at their restaurant.
Justine gives Archie a choice. Will he stay with her in London or follow his heart back to Glenbogle and give up his share in the restraurant to Justine?
Archie plans on making Glenbogle a profit running estate,until the bankers show up. Everyone is getting tired of Justine.Lexie wants to leave and Hector and Molly have already left. Everyone witnesses something on the new web-cams installed inside the house.
Archie hires a new headranger and it looks like Katrina may have her eye on him.
A grant application is denied and Hector must try to bury a grudge to help Archie save Glenbogle. Fergal is fighting to be head dog at Glenbogle and Golly does not like it. Duncan finds himself in the middle of the feud between Fergal and Golly.
It's Archie's 30th birthday! Archie would rather forget while Molly prepares a surprise party and Hector wants to marry Archie off. Katrina lets it be known to Archie that she and Fergal may take the next step in their relationship.
Seems like Molly has a gambling problem and there may be serious consequences when Murdo shows up to collect what is owed him. Archie and Fergal work together to repair a cottage and Katrina finds herself between her two suitors. Whom will she choose?
Lexie's wayward mother shows up at Glenbogle. She is engaged to a wealthy man and wants to get married at Glenbogle. Will Lexie accept her mother back in her life? Katrina may be out of a job and Fergal wants her to go with him to New Zealand.
Lizzie,Archie's sister,arrives back home.Hector does not approve of Lizzie and Archie finds himself in the middle of their feud.
Glenbogle is now up and running and the clan gathering is now upon them. A rich buisness man from Atlanta arrives,claiming that he is the rightful owner of Glenbogle. Archie and Joe battle for the land. Katrina returns without Fergal.
Glenbogle is on the verge of ruin and the bank sends Stella Moon to run the estate.
Stella forces Archie to lay off Golly,Duncan and Lexie. The staff pickets and Archie joins them in their fight against Stella.
Due to the dwindling fish population,Stella puts a ban on fishing to anyone that doesn't pay. She has Hector,Golly and Killwillie arrested for poaching. Molly defends them in court.
Archie starts training Duncan as a ghillie.
Golly reveals that Jess is his daughter. Stuart McIntosh arrives to repair the bridge. Stuart tries to buy some of the cottages to turn a huge profit. Archie realizes the true worth of the cottages as Hector tries to make his own deal with Stuart.
The bridge is finally fixed and Glenbogle is once again open.Arhie invites the local dignitaries to a ceremony. Stuart wants to buy the mountain,Ben Bogle. Archie tries his best,but it seems that the local council is in favor. The only way to save the mountain is if it has a historical past.
Stella is still ruling everyone with an iron fist. Archie invites a local journalist to Glenbogle. As it turns out Graham is Stella's ex-husband. In the meantime Duncan "kidnaps" a busload of people to take them on his nature trail.
Duncan has been writing to his penpal for years and to make himself more desirable to her he tells her that he is Laird of Glenbogle! Marie-Helana announces that she is going to visit him. Duncan is scared that she will find out the truth until Molly decides that Duncan will be Laird for a day. Archie gets demoted for a day to Head Ranger which brings him into close contact with Lexie.
Hector has a reunion with his old buddies and Stella borrows an old painting to celebrate the reunion. Lexie accidentally puts a hole in it. One of Hectors old pals bring trouble with him.
The estate is getting back on track and it is almost time for Stella to leave. A MidSummer ball is planned to celebrate her achievements before she leaves but her heart is with Archie. She decides to make the ball a complete failure so she does not have to leave Glenbogle and more importantly,Archie. Lexie is on to her and saves Archie from embarrassment. Archie finally realizes that Lexie has always been there for him. Will he take the next step with her?
Archie and Lexie announce their engagment and they
do not expect the reaction they receive. Molly is excited,but not Hector. Archie is furious and decides to cut all ties with Hector. The wedding will go on with or without his blessings!
Someone or something is killing Hector's brown trout. Hector figures out that it is the pike that has been killing the trout and resolves to get rid of it. Hector has never done things the ordinary way and decides that the best way to get rid of the pike is to use plastic explosives. It turns out that this will be a very sad day at Glenbogle.
Archie is now on his own as Laird and he and Lexie must come to terms with their new roles. Archie hires Irene to be the new cook/housekeeper and Lexie is having a hard time with the new addition and her new role.Archie decides to build a wolf sanctuary.
The grand opening of the new Wildlife Center is upon Glenbogle and Irene is too busy with that to do much cleaning and cooking. Duncan decides that Golly and Irene would be good for each other and tries to do some match-making.
Lexie and Archie disagree with their wedding plans. She wants a simple wedding,he wants something lavish. To make matters worse,Katrina comes back to get her old job back. She runs into Archie at her interview and he invites her to dinner at Glenbogle. Lexie is angry! Katrina tells Archie that she came back for him,not the job.Katrina accepts the job and Lexie runs away. Archie lets Katrina know that he is not interested in her and that he will marry Lexie.He finds Lexie and he smooths things out with her.Will Lexie get the wedding of her dreams now?
A family friend arrives at Glenbogle. He challenges Archie to a competition. In the meantime,Molly is acting very strange and worrying everybody.
Duncan books his first party at the center. He misunderstands them and thinks that they are naturalists,when in fact they are naturists! He has bigger things to worry about though. He has yet to tell Golly about his budding romance with Irene. In the meantime a wolf is on the run due to Golly's failing eyesight. Kilwillie accidentally gets shot by a tranquilizer meant for the wolf. He thinks he is on his deathbed and declares his love for Molly! Lexie traps the wolf with food and Archie lets Golly know that he has to brush up his skills. Golly tells Archie about his eyesight and feeling worthless,Golly packs up and leaves.
Eveyone misses Golly terribly but Archie must find a replacement. Lexie realizes that the tax deadline is close and she has some work to do. She discovers that there has been monthly payments to "Grace". She and Irene think that Hector may have had a mistress!
After some searching before hiring someone new,Archie and Duncan locate Golly, who has been living close by. Golly ends up saving Archie who has fallen into a pit and Molly puts suspicion to rest when she reveals what "Grace" stands for, Glenbogle Residents and Artisians Care and Expenses. Archie wants to use that trust to help Golly with his eyesight. For once,Golly decides to take the help,intstead of always helping others.
Archie has to pay death duties,but where will he come up with the money? He decides to sell off some land to Kilwillie. The solicitor reveals a law that if a Laird sells off land any other MacDonald has the right to buy the whole estate! The solicitor's name? Greg MacDonald! Molly goes to Kilwille for advice and he decides that the best thing would be Molly marrying him.
Irene tells Duncan that she is pregnant,but that he is not the father. The father is her ex-boyfriend who she left before coming to work at the estate.
Duncan wants to take care of her and the baby.
With Molly's permission.Lexie sells her engagement ring and Golly sells his cottage. Archie can now pay the death duty and Molly does not have to marry Kilwillie. Greg is not satisfied and challenges Archie to a dual. Archie wins when Greg misses and backs down. Only later does Duncan remember that he did not remove the bullets from the guns!
Molly wants to contact Hector from beyond and holds a seance. Duncan's aunt tells a story to Lexie that when the first Laird appears in spirit that there will be trouble. Archie decides to redecorate his late brothers room. He wants to make it into a nursery but Lexie is not ready for children. Andrew Booth,the man who bought Golly's cottage rubs Molly the wrong way.
In the meantime, a photographer comes around inquiring about Irene. She is afraid that it is her ex. He turns out to be a private investigator sent by her ex. Will Irene leave Glenbogle or stay with Duncan?
Lexie is trying to make the Ghillie's Ball as perfect as she can get it. Paul Bowman arrives with a letter and a picture and it seems Golly may be his father. Golly finally tells the secret that he has held on for years,Hector is Paul's father. Golly explains that while Molly had left Hector he had an affair with Paul's mother. Hector tried to do right and support his son,but Paul's mother refused his help. Archie has a hard time accepting Golly's explanation. Archie allows Paul to spend the night at Glenbogle and wonders how he will tell his mother the truth about Paul. In the meantime things are not going well with Lexie. The haggis explodes and someone unplugged the refrigerated truck,spoiling all the seafood!
Molly now knows the truth about Paul and decides to leave with Andrew Booth. Archie does not want Paul around anymore and Lexie must try to smooth things out. Molly asks Golly why he never told her the truth about Hector and Paul's mother and Archie is feeling guilt over his older brothers,(Jamie),death. His feelings of guilt go away a little bit as he saves Paul from drowning in the current.
Molly looks within herself and decides to stay and Archie and Lexie finally get their honeymoon,thanks to Kilwillie!
Archie and Lexie are back and Archie is feeling a little closed in. Kilwillie offers Archie a job in New York and Lexie is not keen on that idea at all! Duncan discovers some relatives of his are war heroes. Duncan opens up his grandfather's trunk and discovers a live bomb!
Paul returns to Glenbogle and some people are not pleased at all.Archie is not sure what to think and Molly just wants him gone! She spends more time with Andrew. Repairs are being done on the house thanks to the bomb that Duncan found. They move to the B&B where Duncan is temporarily managing. Duncan tries his hardest to make it up to Archie and Lexie when two famous food critics come to the B&B.
Things go missing from Glenbogle and Archie suspects Paul,who confessed to spending some time in a military prison. Paul gets angry and once again tries to leave Glenbogle for good!
Paul and Archie put aside their differences. Paul can't wait to open up the new Outdoor Activity Center and Archie hopes to draw a younger crowd to it.
Molly decides to start a dating agency but does not tell anyone about it.
Duncan finds out about it and signs himself up! He makes two dates on the same night!
Somebody has crashed the new village mini-bus and the police constable pays Glenbogle a visit.
Archie finally decides to get to know Paul better and starts to share some responsibility with him.
Golly's daughter,Jess,returns and wants to live with him. He does not approve of the older man she is dating.
Duncan decides to travel to Glasgow for a job interview at a hotel.
In the meantime Molly is balking at Andrews plans for a romantic getaway.
Kilwillie's underhanded sister,Dorothy,proposes a business idea to Archie. Archie thinks it will bring more people to Glenbogle and he is all for it,but Lexie smells a rat! Paul hires a lad named Ewan,to help with the day to day business at the center. Archie is angry that he hired someone without consulting him first. Paul is angry with Archie for agreeing to allow the road for the Eco-Dome to run through the center!
Jess,meanwhile,wants to work alongside her father but Golly does not understand her hints.
Despite their truce,Archie and Paul just cannot agree on anything!
The job for Head Ranger has come up and it is offered to Jess,she refuses and the job is then offered to Duncan,who also refuses,believing that by rights,it belongs to Jess!
Archie and Paul must try to work together to find someone for the job. Molly is baffled by Andrews shunning until he explains to her that he took the time away from her to think things through and has decided to ask for her hand in marriage. Molly is stunned,but before she can respond Lizzie comes for a visit.
Golly needs to think hard and fast before Molly answers Andrew. He loves her and must find a way to tell her before it is too late.
Meanwhile Archie and Lizzie have a real talk about Hector and she reveals to Archie about a letter he wrote to Lizzie expressing his desire to climb a mountain in Nepal! Lizzie wants Archie to go with her.
Archie has gone with Lizzie and Lexie finds herself with alot more responsibility. She tries to run it the way Archie would,but Paul is feeling left out.
Molly and Andrew are busy making plans and Duncan and Jess are getting along great,until her old friend Guy shows up!
Seems like Dorothy,Killwillie's sister is up to no good again! She has taken an island in the middle of the loch for her new Tai Chi retreat. Lexie is furious as that island is a source of income used for fishing.
Lexie, with Golly's help, concoct a scheme to get rid of her. They soon find themselves marooned on the island with Dorothy!
Lexie is featured on a magazine cover! Molly takes advantage of that and invites a TV crew to the clan gathering. Paul is doing well as a board member of the local distillery,but he has one small distraction and her name is Amanda.Ewan is having a hard time with his work at Glenbogle.
Duncan and Jess are having a hard time admitting their true feelings for one another.
Lexie's long lost father shows up at Glenbogle. he charms everyone with his stories. Everyone but Lexie! She cannot wait until he leaves her again!
Golly cannot accept the love between Jess and Duncan so Jess makes a decision to move in with Duncan to Glenbogle.
To get away from it all,Golly accompanies Molly to a horse stable to pick out a horse. The kooky lady who sells the horses refuses to sell unless Golly and Molly are married!
Lexie finds out that Amanda is married,she tells Paul and he tells her to stay out of his affairs.
Glenbogle is preparing for the New Years Eve party. Golly tells a scary story about a ghost. Paul does not believe the story until he starts having strange dreams of his great-grandfather. The dreams get more vivid and he is transported to the past to confront the ghost of his ancestor.
Paul is now Laird of Glenbogle. Lexie arrives back home after living with Archie and Paul suspects all is not well. To Jess's dismay,Lexie offers a job to Duncan in New Zealand where her and Archie now live.
Isobel Anderson arrives to manage her grandmother's farm. While on a walk,Lexie admits to Paul that she and Archie are having some problems. They are forced inside an abandoned house when it starts to storm and Isobel discovers them.
Duncan wants to propose to Jess,but before he can get the words out,she lets him know that she is not looking for a serious commitment. Duncan and Lexie both decide to remain at Glenbogle. Paul is happy at that prospect.
After 40 years,Donald MacDonald,Hector's brother,shows up at Glenbogle.All is not well between Molly and Donald. Molly's 60th birthday is just around the corner and Lexie wants to throw her a party. Molly refuses and Lexie throws herself more into the estate.
Golly thinks Paul should tell Lexie that he is now Laird and he has the right to make decisions concerning Glenbogle on his own.
Donald wants Lexie to throw Molly a party so he can make his escape and Paul asks Isobel to cater the party. He tries but Paul catches him.
Lexie is still unsure about returning to New Zealand and Archie. Molly spots Paul and Lexie as they share a kiss.
Tensions arise between Paul and Lexie over their kiss. Lexie realizes that she needs to be with Archie and she goes to pack.
Duncan decides that he wants to be a DJ after Ewan agrees to let Duncan stand in on his radio show.
Even though she is scared of losing him,Jess asks Isobel to send the recording of Duncan to a producer in Edinburgh.
Lexie is torn again and now wants to stay at Glenbogle.
Isobel has discovered love letters in the barn and they turn out to be letters between Molly and Donald!
Duncan decides to leave for Edinburgh in secret,even though he did not get offered a job and leaves a tearful recording for Jess. Paul thinks it over and pushes Lexie to leave Glenbogle and go back to her husband.
Ewan and Donald find a wreaked WWII fighter jet at the bottom of Glenbogle loch. Paul's old friend from the army takes over the investigation.
Molly collapses while bike riding and Golly urges her to see a doctor. She turns out to have a heart condition and she must have an operation. Jess is really missing Duncan.
Paul's old army friend,Alex,makes himself at home at Glenbogle.It seems that due to an oversight Glenbogle's grant may be at jeopardy. Feeling loyal to Alex,Paul agrees to his suggestion of taking over the day to day operations at Glenbogle.
Golly meets the local dance instructor,Meg,at the village center
Jess thinks that they would be good for one another and tries to play matchmaker.
Donald's friend,Jackie,comes for a visit and they have a grand old time racing around go-carts.
Despite Golly's initial trepidation about Meg,they are now getting along great. A strange man appears at Isobel's farm. After hearing the strange mans story of things he had and then lost ,Molly forgives Donald for their past and Donald is thrilled. Paul convinces Isobel to stay on.
Golly decides to go on holiday with Meg and puts Jess in charge of the estate.
Paul and Isobel share a kiss.
Seems like some people in the Highlands are not happy with the female ghillie,Jess.
Paul and Isobel don't know how to address the issue of their kiss. To make matters worse,the new estate tenet,Lucy,seems to have caught Paul's eye!
Golly and Meg are enjoying their holiday together when Meg gets offered a job far away. She is tempted to leave.
Seems like there may be a poacher on the land and the culprit may be Stuart,a local ghillie whom Paul has asked to help Jess.
Donald runs into his old flame,Moira, but she doesn't seem to thrilled to see him. Paul and Lucy are getting closer and Lucy's brother,Chester, has his eyes on Isobel.
Meg's dance class is suffering due to lack of attendance and Golly tries to help her behind her back.
Ewan auctions off a date with Jess.
In the end,Meg leaves and Jess dumps her blind date to lend support to her dad,Golly.
Lucy's parents come for a visit and Paul offers to entertain them at Glenbogle. Isobel misunderstands and thinks they are engaged!
Golly has been acting very strange. Staying out all night and sometimes not even sleeping in his own bed! Jess is very worried and comes to her own conclusions.
Lucy's dad is giving Paul the third degree and Lucy admits to Paul that she may have hinted to her parents that they are to be wed.
Afterwards,Paul visits Isobel.
Molly returns from New Zealand just in time to witness the clash between Paul and Donald! Paul is about to be coronated as the Laird of Glenbogle, but a clan elder reveals that Donald should be Laird. Donald runs with that information and accepts his new title of Laird. Paul is furious! Donald wants to impose a new tax and Paul challenges Donald for the title.
Lucy is not sure about Paul and Chester still wants Isobel.
Jess is very surprised by the return of Meg. Meg does not understand why Golly is cold towards her. She just wants to patch things up.
Paul is now,officially, the new Laird.Isobel has left and Meg and Golly now have a baby boy named Cameron,unfortunately Meg is gone for good. There is a new chairperson,Iona. Paul clashes with her when he is unable to pay for repairs.
Paul's goddaughter,Amy,shows up for a visit. Golly informs Paul that the local poacher is back in town.
Kilwillie is also back from New York with a woman named Edith. While her cottage is being repaired,Iona moves into Glenbogle. Paul is happy in this turn of events! Will he finally find love?
Paul wants to turn Glenbogle into a luxury retreat. He seems to be the only one to want this. Molly is taking care of Golly while he is sick and Jess must take over as ghillie on a deer stalk.
Is there a Glenbogle Loch Ness? The picture Amy took, looks to be a loch ness monster. Ewan sees money while Paul sees the lack of money!
He has other worries also,the repairs on Iona's cottage are about done and he does not want her to leave,so he starts making faults up so she can't leave.
Iona's former fiancee,Malcolm,comes to Glenbogle when a tree blight threatens Glenbogle's forest. Golly is very busy with the baby and Jess is feeling the effects. She applies to the Annual Highlands Challenge,but gets snubbed by a local male ghillie,Robbie. Jess won't be defeated and enlists Molly to help her train.
Malcolm confides to Paul that he wants a second chance with Iona. Paul must think and act fast before he loses Iona for good!
All good things must come to an end and Monarch of the Glen is no exception. The bank has withdrawn it's loan and Paul must put Glenbogle up for sale. He has to start telling the others to look for a new home.
Paul must also come to terms with the upcoming wedding of Malcolm and Iona.
Molly finally realizes that she has feelings for Golly.
Kilwillie still has feelings for her.
Hector's memorial service is upon them.
Donald,upset over the upcoming sale,puts himself into a retirement home.
Jess misses Duncan.
