On the day Jessica accompanies Sheriff Tupper to Portland, Maine for a sheriff’s benefit, they get stranded along the way when the bus they were on breaks down during a major storm. It was during this time when Jessica and the sheriff discover one of the passengers, a recently released convict, has been murdered. When they realize they are unable to call the area’s authorities until the weather clears up, they investigate which of the remaining passengers might want the man dead and let someone else take the blame for their handiwork.
