Upon her arrival in Texas to testify on behalf of a client of Milton Porter who is accused of plagiarism, Jessica trips over a toy at the airport and fractures her leg. As Milton drives Jessica to an exclusive private hospital to be fitted for a cast and to rest for a few days, he tries to talk her into suing the airport for negligence. Not long after she is checked into the hospital, Jessica witnesses a nasty confrontation between two doctors up for the position of Chief of Staff when Dr. Samuel Garver retires. Later that night, Dr. Garver is found dead in his home and the police find traces of forced entry, result in the police to believe foul play was involved in his death. When the apparent murder weapon is found in a nurse’s locker at the hospital, the Lieutenant investigating the homicide turns to Jessica for help to find the killer when it is revealed that someone framed the nurse.
