While in Wyoming for her friend’s funeral, Jessica gets involved with an unusual investigation when Carl Mestin, an uninvited old friend shows up with news that he was left the man’s cattle ranch. A few days later, when the man is found hanging by a rope in the barn, Jessica sets out to prove that the hired hand of her friend is innocent of the crime and soon discovers that numerous associates of the rancher have a lot or reasons for wanting Carl dead and they all have to do with a secret involving the rancher’s daughter.
