When a heart attack lands veteran reporter Haskell Drake in the hospital, Jessica travels to Boston to see her friend. Looking to find a way to give Haskell the will to live, Jessica reluctantly agrees to try and take down his publisher Lamar Bennett for turning Boston Daily Sentinel from a respectable newspaper into a tabloid rag. When Bennett dies of a brain hemorrhage at an industry dinner, Jessica soon finds herself as a person of interest in the Boston Police Department’s investigation of Bennett’s death since she knew so much about the cause of death. Jessica then finds herself doing research for a story Haskell wants to write about Bennett’s life and soon discovers that several reporters at the newspaper may have had means and motive to want Bennett dead.
