When Jessica returns to a small New England town for a revival of a play she and Frank were in years before, she gets caught up with a murder investigation when the understudy of one the stars dies during the opening night performance. As she helps the local police chief, they try to find out who associated with the play wanted the woman dead, Jessica discovers that it has to do with why the star of the original production decided to take time off at the height of her career 30 years before.
