While working on a new novel, Jessica gets caught up in a murder mystery when her computer consultant is involved in an apparent car accident. Upon arriving at the hospital to check on her, Jessica and Sgt. Victor Lofton learn that Paula’s date, an undercover police officer, was dead before the car accident occurred. It is at this point when Jessica learns from Sgt. Lofton that Paula’s date was working with Sgt. Lofton to flush out a crooked cop. When it looks like the killer is going to get away with murdering a police officer, Sgt. Lofton starts his own investigation into what happened and is shocked at what he finds.
