In the year 2015 A.D.

Fifteen years after an enormous meteor slammed into Antarctica, the world has become a very different place. Now, the world is about to get a little crazier. NERV, an organisation created in secret and headquarted in Neo Tōkyō 3, Japan, is humanity's last hope against a new breed of monster: The Angels. NERV's chief weapon against the Angels is the synthetic life form known as Evangelion. Just as big as the Angels, the Evas are piloted by 14 year olds, one of whom is Shinji Ikari, the son of NERV's Commander, Gendou. Summoned by his father, Shinji reluctantly joins NERV in order to defeat the Angels and create a New Genesis for mankind.
