Designation: The Second Child
The sharp-tongued, hot-tempered, mean-spirited Asuka Langley Souryuu is driven like no one else. Suffering the tragic loss of her mother at an early age, Asuka has forced herself to succeed at all costs. Introduced in episode 8 "ASUKA STRIKES!", Asuka quickly assumes the leadership role of the Eva pilots. Her family name, Souryuu, is left ambiguous in order for the viewer to determine her qualities for themselves. While 惣 or sō means 'all', 流 or ryū has several different meanings. |
