Pamela's Voice - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
A man, Jonathan, is at home and goes downstairs to examine the coffin of his departed wife Pamela, who is on display. The organ starts playing by itself, the fireplace bursts into flame, and the chandeliers rattles in an unseen wind. Pamela starts talking to him, insulting him and telling him to pay attention so he can see her.

Relatively unconcerned, Jonathan says he’s hardly surprised that Pamela has arrived uninvited, and wonders if she went to Heaven or Hell. Pamela notes that she is right there, and that Jonathan did what he could to get rid of her. Jonathan admits that he murdered her, sending her falling down a flight of stairs. He’s disappointed when he learns that she didn’t suffer from her broken neck before dying, and insists it would have made up for the years of suffering he endured in their marriage due to her nagging. Pamela insists he was lucky to have her, and she could have had any man. Jonathan points out that they only wanted her because of her father’s fortune.

Angered, Pamela demands that Jonathan listen to her, but he turns his back on her. She appears in front of him and says that he doesn’t have any choice but to listen to her. Jonathan refuses, saying that it was her screeching, annoying voice that drove him to kill her, and that she’s just a figment of his imagination. He tells Pamela that the funeral director will soon be coming for her, but she doesn’t understand what he’s saying. Jonathan spells it out for her, that she’s going to be buried, but Pamela tells him that he’s always been absent-minded and reminds him that she was buried months ago. He goes to the coffin and realizes that it’s his body inside.

Pamela explains that he celebrated her demise so enthusiastically that he died of a heart attack. Jonathan realizes that they are both ghosts, and insists that it’s unfair. Pamela takes great satisfaction in explaining that in Heaven, you can do whatever you want. As a social person, she’ll spend the rest of eternity talking and he’ll spend the rest of eternity listening. When Jonathan objects, saying he should be able to do what he wants as well, Pamela points out that the place he went to is not as obliging. His former and future wife begins nagging... and nagging... and nagging, and Jonathan has no choice but to listen.
