He now finds himself in possession of a very sacred artifact, the Dragon Stone. A dying Hiruko ninja tells him he must deliver the stone to the Light Maiden. Confused and constantly on the run from ninjas seeking the mysterious artifact, Jubei is joined by the government spy Dakuan, the young thief Tsubute, and the beautiful girl, Shigure, whose village was destroyed by the Kimon.
