While resting, Jubei's nap is interrupted by a brawl between two ninja clans at war, who both want an object called the Dragon Stone. The next morning Jubei finds himself wandering in an isolated, harmless looking town. When several ninjas arrive and begin to attack the village, Jubei learns he must deliver this sacred stone to a woman called The Light Maiden.
