The first season takes place in 1962. It's assumed that the second season takes place about a year after the first, in 1963.
| How old is Oliver and his friends?
Oliver is 11 in the first season. It's assumed by the 2nd season that Oliver is 12, or almost 12. His friends are most likely the same ages as Oliver.
| Why was David Cross uncredited?
David Cross, the narrator, was uncredited because David asked to be. David expressed distaste for the show, and didn't want people to really know he was associated with the show. The same year Oliver Beene premiered, David went to star on one of FOX's other sitcom, Arrested Development.
