In 1994, One Life to Live won four Daytime Emmy awards for a deeply emotional and riveting fraternity gang rape storyline. The show won four more Daytime Emmy awards in 2000, and also recieved the first CDC Sentinel for Health Award due to the storyline of Viki's (Erika Slezak) breast cancer. The show recieved two Daytime Emmy awards in 2001, and won Outstanding Drama Series in 2002.

One Life to Live was created by Agnes Nixon (also the creator of All My Children), and the show first aired on television on July 15th, 1968.
