During the Tree Hill High semi-formal dance, Lucas brings Anna as his date but ends up with Brooke instead. Nathan plans out the perfect night for Haley, but his plans are ruined when Haley comes late to the dance because she was with Chris. Meanwhile, Peyton continues to deal with the mounting pressure to do drugs, especially after Anna lashes out at her during the dance.

Brooke: You're looking at one. Why does everybody lie? You know, the bad guys lie to get in your bed and the good guys lie to get in your heart. And I'm the idiot that falls for it every time.
Lucas: Hey, Brooke, you are not an idiot. Not even close. You know who you are. Most people don't, you know. I mean, that's why they lie. They're afraid people might find out who they are before they figure it out themselves.
| Peyton: Anna, it's not about who I am, okay. It's about who they are. They are people who hate, and they divide, and they feed off of people who don't fight back. Yeah, I could laugh this off, but what about the girl who can't? Who's gonna help her? Silence only makes them stronger.

Anna: Lucas, what's wrong?
