Episode Quotes

Brooke: (voiceover; reading Haley speech) Now is the time for us to shine. A time when our dreams are within reach and possibilities vast. Now is the time for all of us to become the people we’ve always dreamed of being. This is you’re world, you’re here. You matter. The world is waiting.

Haley: Okay, we'll have fun. I'm just saying maybe I should give Deb one quick call just to check in.
Nathan: Hales, come on. I miss the boy too, but we're not going to be those crazy obsessive parents, alright?

Chase: (to Brooke before they have sex) Be gentle with me.

(Dan walks into the police station and approaches an officer)
Dan: My name is Dan Scott. I killed my brother.

Lucas: How's fatherhood?
Nathan: It's awesome. How's brotherhood?
Lucas: Awesome.

Peyton: Hey, you, what have you been up too?
Brooke: Flirting with Lucas.
Peyton: Oh, yeah? How'd that turn out?
Brooke: Uh, so so. You know love triangles are so high school.
Peyton: Seriously.
Brooke: We made it, didn't we? Through all the tragedy and jealousy and confusion. We made it.
Peyton: Yeah. Hoes over bros, right?
Brooke: I love you, P. Sawyer.
Peyton: I love you too, B. Davis.

(Mouth jumps off the roof, walks up to Brooke then kisses her)
Mouth: I always wanted to do that. (to Chase as he walks away) Sorry man.
(Brooke is speechless)
Chase: I said you could hang out, not make out.
Brooke: See what happens when you leave me alone all night.

Nathan: (to Peyton as he shows her a picture of James) I made that.

Nathan: So you know there's a big party tonight, kind of like a last hurrah for all the seniors?
Haley: Yeah I know, but what are we going to do with the baby.
Deb: Cue the crazy grandmother.

Deb: Go. I'll watch him.
Haley: Oh, I don't know.
Nathan: We're under aged, Mom. And there's going to be drinking, alcohol ... probably some drugs.
Deb: You're going to the party and you're going to have fun. We insist. Now go. Bring me home some drugs. (to James as they leave) Isn't grandma funny?

Reece: Oh my gosh Nathan your baby is so beautiful.
Nathan: He is, isn't he?
Haley: Hi. Sorry. Can we just have a second?
Reece: Congratulations.
Haley: Thank you, Reece.
(the girls leave)
Haley: Um, we need to go home.
Nathan: Why? What is it?
Haley: Because I know we promised we wouldn't do this but I called just to check in on the baby and Deb's not answering the phone, there's no busy signal, there's no answering machine and she's not answering her cell phone either.
Nathan: Okay, okay, let's not freak out, okay? It doesn't mean my mom's not on top of it.
Haley: Your mom, the former drug addict, attempted murder who dropped a loaded gun in the café?
Nathan: Wouldn't hurt to check.
Haley: Right.

Deb: The two of you are driving us crazy.
Haley: The two of us?
Nathan: I might have called a couple of times.
Deb: 6 times.
Haley: You crazy obsessive parent.
Deb: You called 8.

Nathan: (to Haley) You're going to be a great mom, you know that? Actually you already are a great mother, and that's very sexy.

Haley: (to her and Nathan's baby) Welcome to the world James Lucas Scott.

Episode References

Lucas: Huh. Doesn't look like anythings wrong. you sure it won't start? Peyton?
Peyton: Oh, the car is fine. I was just feeling sentimental about the first time we spoke.

Peyton is referring to the "Pilot" when Lucas and Peyton have their first meeting as Lucas tows Peyton's car into Keith's shop after it breaks down.

The final scene of the episode when Lucas and Nathan go one-on-one is a reference back to their first one-on-one duel at the Rivercourt in the "Pilot" and their second one-on-one in "From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea" in which Nathan wins.

Karen seeing Keith while in a coma is similar to Lucas' encounter with Keith after falling unconscious in "Songs To Love And Die By".

Flashbacks to Keith's death were from "With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept".

Dan's cell number is 128, which is the same cell that Psycho Derek was held in in "The Runaway Found".

Mouth: Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to another historic night.

Mouth said the same thing before the one-on-one game between Nathan and Lucas in the "Pilot".

Analysis

This episode serves as the closing to the group's high school life and help transition them into the fifth season premiere, which fast-forward the series 5 years into the future.
