A bus pulls into Logan City and a woman, Lois Reed, gets off. As Lois looks around nervously, a man approaches her and welcomes her back to Logan City. He introduces himself as private investigator Donald Briggs and says he has a cab waiting for her. Lois gets in and they drive to the Sands Motel on the outskirts of town.
