A Harvard-educated city lawyer moves to San Remo, a rural practice, to lead a slower pace of life, only to find he is still kept engaged defending murder suspects. Cases were enacted in flashbacks that showed the course of events prior to the crime. Anthony Petrocelli, or Tony as he was called, was married to Maggie. They lived in a trailer while they were waiting for their new house to be built. In order to investigate the cases Petrocelli hired Pete Ritter, a local cowboy.
