Created by David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Boston Legal), Picket Fences tells the story of the sheriff of Rome, Wisconsin, a small town family man trying to look out for both is family and his small community.
As Sherrif James Brock (Tom Skerritt) takes care of Rome, he also looks out for his wife Jill (Kathy Baker) a doctor at the town's small doctor's office; daughter Kimberly (Holly Marie Combs), who he had with a previous wife; and sons Matthew (Justin Shenkarow) and Zach (Adam Wylie), his two children with Jill.
In keeping law and order in the town, Sheriff Brock must deal with Judge Henry Bone (Ray Walston), a judge who doesn't always rule with the law, but rather what is in the best interest of the town. Another thorn in Sheriff Brock's side is lawyer Douglas Wambaugh (Fyvush Finkel) who goes to any length necessary to win a case.
Though the show was critically acclaimed, it failed to find an audience and was canceled after 4 seasons.
