Subject: • Power Rangers Cancelled
The long running action/adventure franchise Power Rangers, which rose to unprecedented heights in the 1990s, will be coming to an end in it's present live-action format according to the New Zeland Herald and co-producer Sally Campbell. The decision will leave several New Zealand film, stunt, and effect crews out of work

Whilst Power Rangers remains one of the top toylines in the United States, ratings had slumped to all-time lows in recent years. However, ratings in the UK for the series remained incredibly high.

Disney had intended to end Power Rangers with 2002's Power Rangers Wild Force, and had even considered ending it in 2008 with Power Rangers Jungle Fury, with an animated series intended to take it's place in 2009. It is not known whenever or not Disney will return to the concept of reluanching PR in an animated format in light of their decision to end the live-action version.

An attempt was made to give the series a "darker edge" with the current season, Power Rangers RPM, which will premiere on March 7th on ABC Family, but half-way through production, executive producer Eddie Guzzelian was fired for a variety of private and production-based reasons, and replaced by PR veteran producer Judd Lynn, best known for saving the series with the memorable Power Rangers In Space and producing the darkest seasons of the franchise's history.

You know, the new Power Ranger season was actually really good, and surprisingly mre mature than the more recent ones. It's a shame it's the last one.

Of course the ratings drop when you move from free tv to cable or dish and then if it does air on free tv ist's at bad times. I wouldn't be shocked if they just dub the Japanese versions and air them as new series since most kids that play with the toys won't care as long as they get new toys,.
