Jim is arrested, his bail is set high, and his lawyer doesn't seem up to the case. Grace is suspended at the IRS for searching Push's records. She learns that Jim's bail is paid anonymously and tries to find out who did it. Mary is called in by Mr. Sloman, who first tries to persuade her, then threaten her, into telling him where the missing Bible is.
Jim also meets Eunice Blackwell, who tells him about eight copycat suicides that occurred in 1984, the same year that the Versailles Casino opened.
