CBS Western best remembered today for being the program that gave Clint Eastwood his big show biz break. The series was conceived as Wagon Train on a cattle drive and dealt with cattle drovers taking their herd to market and the adventures they faced along the way. Eric Fleming starred as trail boss Gil Favor with Eastwood playing his second-in-command, Rowdy Yates, and Paul Brinegar playing trail cook G. W. Wishbone.

The guide hired by Rowdy to lead the herd across a dangerous river crossing turns out to be a worthless drunkard. Rowdy feels some compassion for the man's son because his situation is similar.
