Return to Treasure IslandRating: 1 likes, 0 dislikes
This was a great miniseries that the masters of the Disney universe decided to immure in a crypt of secrecy. It's never been released on DVD, and the few copies of it on VHS, very rare to begin with, are decaying with age.
What it's about is, ten years after the events of Treasure Island, Long John Silver (Brian Blessed) is on the trail of another treasure on a Caribbean island, and he and Jim Hawkins experience various adventures and misadventures along the way. Their relationship alternates between resentment and affection, deception and compassion. It's a picaresque story--it feels really long, but in a good way, like it's just crammed with more great scenes and sequences than a regular story, like Raiders of the Lost Ark or The Lord of the Rings.
As for its target audience, I'd say it's ideal audience would be an imaginative 12 year old boy.
