Hinton Priory, in Somerset, was the location used for Leaford Grange.
Acre, as in the title of this episode, refers to a city in modern day Israel. During the Crusades, this was an important city and was captured and lost several times.

Knights Templar or Poor Knights of the Temple of Solomon, were a group of knights who, despite taking a vow of poverty, were a very wealthy and influential order. Although a monastic order, their job was to protect pilgrams on their way to the holy land, and fought along side King Richard, the King of England (1189-1199).
