Rugrats

First Telecast: August 11, 1991

Last Telecast: June 08, 2004

Rugrats is Nickelodeon's longest running animated show with a record 13-year span. It first debuted in Summer 1991, alongside with Doug and Ren and Stimpy, being the first three Nicktoons ever, and attracted many fans worldwide. The series originally ran from 1991 to 1994, but increased ratings when shown in prime time led it to be revived in 1997. Here's some info about the show itself...

The show follows a group of toddlers between ages 1-3. The original 5 five Rugrats are 1-year-old Tommy who is the leader of his friends, 2-year-old Chuckie and 1-year-old twins Phil and Lil. There's also Angelica, Tommy's 3-year-old bratty cousin who teases them. The babies are able to speak to each other while Angelica can speak to the babies and adults. The show is all about life and adventures from their point of view, which proves they see adventure and possibility in every little thing, such as going to the park, the backyard or even a grocery store . Though they often misunderstand if not completely misinterpret what the grownups say, not to mention the use of their poor grammar. But they always have a big adventure ahead of them, that they always get into and out of trouble. Most of the time they'll do many dangerous things(for little kids anyway) without even thinking. To them, the world is their playground!

In 1992 during the shows second season, a new Rugrat was introduced. 3-year-old Susie Carmichael is a kind, good natured girl who is Angelica's rival. She will stand up for the babies whenever Angelica picks on them. In 1998, when the first movie was released, Tommy's little brother Dil was born. Dil behaves like a true baby, though he can utter a few words every now and then. He was then added on the show in 1999. In 2000, the second movie introduced Kimi as Chuckie's adopted sister. Kimi was then added on the show in 2001. This one of the many critical responses of the show since it's '97 revival.

In 2001, to celebrate The Rugrats 10th Anniversary, a 1-hour special called, Rugrats: All Growed Up showed the gang 10 years into the future. This eventually became a show two years after. In 2003, the Rugrats third and final movie was a crossover with another Nicktoon, The Wild Thornberrys. Around that time, a special involved Angelica and Susie going to pre-school aired, which was made into an unaired mini-series with a more cutesy look.

The show had ended in Summer of 2004. Although two direct-to-video fairy tale movies were planned. One has been released so far.
