During a stakeout, Det. Michael Burton's head is grazed by a stray bullet. Burton dies, but finds himself stuck in limbo surrounded by other spirits, similar to his, that are trapped between heaven and hell. The only way out of limbo is to complete whatever unfinished business you left on Earth. Paramedics are able to recessitate Burton, and he wakes up in a hopital, but he can still see shades. Now, Burton must help each shade that he sees in order to help them move on to their afterlife.
