Slattery's People: Question: Whatever Happened to Ezra?

In the Congress of the United States a bill is under debate, it is meant to close down all the small homes for the elderly and replace them with larger institutions. Concerning this project a huge polemic has been raised. Ezra, a resident elder in one of the asylums, feels he must go to Capitol city to render testimony on this matter, and account for the good management and adequate methods used at the home where he is staying. Carsonville is a unique state institution for the aged and it's slated to be shut down, but not if 86-year-old Ezra Tallicott has anything to say about it. He's bicycling to the state capitol to get Slattery's help. Guest star is Ed Wynn as Ezra, who portrays a spry old gent who bicycles 60 miles to the state capital to get Slattery's aid in fighting the threatened closing of an unusual home for the elderly.

When he tries to keep the hospital open, Slattery finds himself opposing not only his own party but the state's influential director of mental hygiene, Dr. James Freeman, played by David White.
