Too good for TV?Rating: 1 likes, 0 dislikes
One of the best'unknown" TV shows ever, this show was loved by the critics and a loyal cadre of intelligent, literate, fans in the mid sixties, and now only exists in the form of a few bootleg episodes.
I will only review the show on the basis of the two episodes I have managed to find, and on the basisof what I have read about it..
Richard Crenna played Jim, not "Frank" Slattery, House of Reprersentaives minority leader in an unnamed state. He was excellent, and got nominated for two emmies and a golden globe during the shows year and a half run.
One of the reasons I am fascinated by the show is that I teach political science in a community college in Michigan. However, based on what little of the show I have managed to see, it should be of interest to anyone who prizes fine TV writing and acting.
There really should be a TV network called QTV, for "Quality Television". It would be devoted to all sorts of excellent, but sadly forgotten , shows that should be watched nowadays. They would include The Westerner, My World and Welcome to It, The Defenders, Naked City, etc. of course, that will never be, unless I become a millionare. and can start my own networtk.
