Stark Raving Mad: My Bodyguard (a.k.a. Guarding Tess)
Tess becomes enamored with Ian after he attacks a mugger. To deflect her adoration away from himself, Ian hires a friend of Jake's to pose as a mugger in hopes that Henry will punch him in front of Tess. Meanwhile Maddie enlists Jake to pose as her boyfriend to scare off men who hit on her in the bar; and Henry becomes increasingly annoyed by an obnoxious coworker.

Three days before this episode aired, "Stark Raving Mad" won a People's Choice Award or Favorite New Television Comedy Series. This obviously meant little to NBC since three weeks later, the series went on hiatus for the first time -- though NBC was being beaten down at the time by ABC's nightly ratings phenomena, Regis Philbin's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"
Guest-star Jamie Kennedy and later guest-star Wes Craven ("The Pigeon") worked together on the popular "Scream" trilogy.
