Virgil Hawkins, Static, voiced by Phil LaMarr
Love Interests: Frieda Goren, Daisy Watkins
Virgil Hawkins was bullied by Francis (F-Stop), so one of his friends who looked out for him invited him to join his gang, and put an end to F-Stop. Virgil goes to meet his friend before the gang war goes down, but he's too late. The police shoot knockout gas, but it hits the canisters of Bang Baby gas (as it has come to be known), and they fuse into a gas that kills everyone, and the people who weren't killed were given extrordinary powers. Now, Virgil, with his static electricity powers, takes the guise of Static, a superhero crime-fighter.
Character Background:
Virgil Hawkins debuted in the comic Static, issue 1 (1993). He was a kid who was beat up and humiliated by Biz Money B, who later became Hotstreak. Virgil received advice by Larry, a gang leader who gave Virgil a gun. Virgil planned to kill Larry, but decided not to. He was hit by the knockout gas, that was too strong. It killed half of the people there. The survivers were given powers. Virgil had a crush on Frieda, but she didn't like him that way, so they were just good friends. |
