Episode Quotes

Al: (to Mark about her pet pig) Hey, you can call me stupid, you can call my family stupid, but lay off the pig.

Frank: One of my first responsibilities is to emcee the lodge's annual Mother-Daughter beauty contest.
Karen: Frank that's wonderful. I've been wanting to enter that pageant ever since I realized I was beautiful.

Episode Goofs

Karen quits the pageant in disgust during the Daughter's speech segment. But in the twist ending her and Carol are awarded the crown(s) of Ms. Mallard. If she quit how could she possibly have won?

Analysis

Karen Quits...and still wins!

During the speech segment of the Mother-Daughter pageant, Karen exposes Howard and his son as sleaze bags and says VERY clearly that she quits. Meaning there's no way she could have won even with the changing of the rules at the very end to an audience vote. Regardless of who the crowd wanted it should not have been allowed due to the simple fact that Karen quit the pageant in disgust. The other Mother-Daughter combo should have been given the crown(s).

But this is SBS, the place where intelligent, reality based plots go to die. But even in this world there should have been some kind of explanation as to how Karen (and Carol) was still allowed to win. But nothing was explained and to be truthful most people probably never considered this. But that doesn't excuse the plot hole or the reason for doing it.
