Frank: (talking about Mark) Is it just me or is your son wound a little tight?
Carol: Yeah you're right he's compulsive. I wonder how he got that way?
(Carol walks into the living room to find Frank working on the cable box)
Carol: Oh, Frank you're not trying to get the Playboy Channel for free again are you?
(Brendan comes from school and Frank asks him about his day)
Brendan: Great, we made Billy Jenkins laugh so hard that he blew chocolate milk out of his nose.
Frank: You're mothers right, Mark. You're starting to act like...one of my kids.
(Frank and Carol hear a thumping downstairs)
Frank: What is that?
Carol: I dunno.
Frank: It's coming from downstairs.
Carol: OHMIGOD, maybe it's a burglar. Maybe he's strung out on drugs and has a gun and is ready to shoot anything that moves. Go check!
(Cody explains how he beat his cold)
Cody: Scoff if you will non-believer. But I had a major cold and took no medication. I just got plenty of rest, drank lots of fluid and used only the powers of my mind. And now a mere 7 to 10 days later, I'm cured.
Frank and Carol are in bed and she wakes him up to investigate the thumping coming from downstairs and it turns out to be Mark playing video games. The loud thumping coming from the TV which was turned up WAY to loud. Why didn't Mark just turn the TV down to a normal level and he would have probably not been found out?
Ricky Nelson, Ozzie Nelson, Full House, Michelle from Full House: All referenced by Cody when he's trying to cure Karen's case of the "monkey bites".
How is it that Mark goes from being a 24/7 Steve Urkel-type bookworm nerd to a video game addict in about 20 seconds? Simply because he finds something else he enjoys he dives into it with both feet and neglects his grades and even threatens to kill his younger step-brother over it. And this is supposed to reflect something that could happen in the real world?
I don't think the character of Mark was the right choice for this storyline due to the fact that he's way to smart and driven to get good grades to be drawn into a fantasy world. But the writers motives here were to play against type and gives us the one person in the family that would be most least likely to do this and they did. Too bad it came off as rushed and not to believable.
