14 :02x01 - The Wisdom to Know the Difference (Feb/28/2005)
Ava takes charge of her relationship with Simon and proposes. Nikki is disappointed because she thinks Johnny is the only man for Ava. Bradin's coach questions Bradin's true effort on the team. Bradin contemplates taking steroids to help him out. Johnny comes home unexpectedly to create a strain in the Ava-Simon relationship.

An older group of surfers persuade Bradin to rebel against Jay and in the process he humiliates Erika. Nikki's poem is chosen to be published and she is asked to read it aloud in front of a large audience. Amber's method to calm Nikki's nerves is alcohol, and Nikki takes it.

Jay shows interest in a single mother. Ava invites Johnny to move back into the house.

Bradin and Erika discuss their feelings for each other and the possibility of a relationship. Jay is put in a heart wrenching predicament. Ava tells Johnny she loves him and he finally makes a decision.
