Veteran cop T.J. Hooker made his way through the ranks to become a detective, but when his partner was shot and killed, T.J. refused a promotion and went back out onto the streets as a beat cop. When not training new recruits, he patrols the streets. He's teamed up with young hotshot Vince Romano, and the two occasionally clash despite their dedication to upholding the law. Hooker's immediate superior is Captain Dennis Sheridan, whose daughter Stacy eventually joins the force and partners up with veteran cop Officer Jim Corrigan.
